Research & Discovery
The foundation of the Property Intelligence platform was built upon a comprehensive understanding of the existing market, user needs, and the technological landscape. This initial phase involved:
User Research
Conducting in-depth interviews and gathering feedback from current users, including insurance underwriters and property inspectors, to understand their challenges with existing tools and desired improvements.
Technical Exploration
Collaborating with data scientists and engineers to assess the feasibility of integrating advanced AI and machine learning techniques for property risk assessment.
Data Synthesis
Analyzing a plethora of data sources, including aerial imagery, public records, and partner data, to establish a framework for the new predictive risk scoring system.
Market Analysis
Studying the competitive landscape to identify gaps and opportunities for Betterview to provide distinctive value in property risk management.
High Resolution mockups of the Flag Builder
Various types of flags that can be applied to a property
This thorough research and analysis phase was crucial in crafting a design strategy that would empower insurers with a more efficient, accurate, and user-friendly tool for making informed decisions on property risks.
Design Development
Building on the insights from the initial research phase, the design development for the Property Intelligence platform centered on creating an interface that would not only present data but make it actionable. This phase entailed:
Apps Used
Sketch App
Mirro
Adobe Suite
Approach
High-Res Mockups
User Testing
Prototyping
Prototyping
Crafting early designs and prototypes that brought to life the AI-driven insights, ensuring that complex data was presented in an intuitive and digestible manner for users.
User-Centered Design
Iteratively refining the user interface based on feedback from user testing sessions, focusing on the clarity and accessibility of the predictive risk scores and other key data points.
Early functional prototypes of the new Action Flag Builder System
Collaboration with Stakeholders
Engaging with Betterview stakeholders, including underwriters and property inspectors, to validate design choices and ensure that the platform met real-world use cases.
Data Visualization
Developing enhanced visualizations, including augmented reality-style features, to allow users to easily interpret and act on property issues highlighted by the platform's AI.
The Betterview Dashboard had to accommodate data trends across multiple properties, the dashboard allows multiple team members to view the same data and collaborate
The new action flags enabled for each property can all be viewed comprehensively on the new dashboard where users can monitor or make adjustments to their flags
The new Flag dashboard that featured custom conditions and alerts that could be enabled for continuous monitoring
The design development phase was marked by a commitment to user experience, marrying technical data with user-friendly design, and paving the way for a platform that would redefine the standard for property risk assessment in insurance.
All the new datapoints are exportable and printer-friendly
Implementation
Transitioning from design to deployment, the technical implementation of the Property Intelligence platform required a seamless collaboration between design and engineering teams. Key activities during this phase included:
Development
Ensuring that the user interface created during the design phase was fully functional, integrating with the back-end systems that processed and analyzed the property data.
Integration Challenges
Addressing and overcoming the technical challenges associated with unifying disparate data sources into a cohesive and responsive system.
Developing an interface for the new Business Rules Engine
Deployment and Iteration
Rolling out the platform in stages, allowing for continuous feedback and iteration, which helped in refining the platform and ensuring a robust launch.
Quality Assurance & Testing
Rigorously testing the platform for both usability and technical performance to ensure that it met high standards of data accuracy and user experience.
The technical implementation was as much about innovative engineering as it was about maintaining fidelity to the design vision, ensuring that the final product reflected the platform's goal of transforming property data into insightful, actionable intelligence for Betterview's clients.
