Adding value to the Betterview Platform with a New Product: PartnerHub

Year

2020-2021

Overview

PartnerHub is a pivotal extension of Betterview's platform, revolutionizing the integration of third-party property data for insurers. This feature, which utilizes a unique Customizable UI, automates and enhances decision-making workflows by centralizing disparate data sources such as geospatial and weather information.

As a UX/Product Designer, I played a key role in developing the intuitive user experience, streamlining the path from data to actionable insights for property risk assessment.

Mapping out how to display multiple datapoints

This rigorous discovery process laid the groundwork for the design and development of PartnerHub, ensuring that the solution not only met the immediate needs of Betterview's clients but also set a new standard for property intelligence platforms in the insurtech marketplace.

User Research

Conducted interviews with Betterview clients to capture their workflow challenges and data usage patterns.

Analyzed user feedback to determine essential features and interface requirements for PartnerHub.

Competitive Analysis

Reviewed existing solutions and third-party data integrations to benchmark against industry standards.

Identified gaps and opportunities where PartnerHub could provide a competitive edge.

Technical Exploration

Collaborated with front-end and back-end engineers to understand the constraints and possibilities of integrating diverse data sources.

Explored the technical feasibility of seamless API connections for automating data importation processes.

Strategy Formation

Synthesized research findings to formulate a product strategy that aligns with Betterview’s mission of transforming data into actionable insights.

Prioritized features and functions that would enable underwriters to make more informed decisions with less effort and lower total cost of ownership.

Design Development

Armed with insights from the discovery phase, the next step was to translate these into a user-centric design. This phase was characterized by iterative prototyping, continuous user testing, and close collaboration with engineering teams.

Prototyping

Developed initial concepts into interactive prototypes, focusing on intuitive navigation and efficient data presentation.

Collaboration with Engineers

Worked in tandem with engineering to ensure design feasibility, maintaining a balance between ideal user experience and technical constraints.

Design Iteration

Refined the design through multiple iterations, each informed by user feedback and technical input, leading to a polished and user-validated interface.

The design development phase was crucial in shaping PartnerHub into a tool that not only met the functional requirements but also delivered a seamless and empowering experience to the end-users.

Technical Implementation

With the design of PartnerHub refined and validated through rigorous user testing, the focus shifted to the technical implementation — the phase where design meets development.

Engineering Collaboration

Engaged in a series of development sprints with the front-end and back-end engineers, translating design blueprints into functional code.

Integration

Overcame technical hurdles to integrate PartnerHub seamlessly within the Betterview platform, ensuring data from various third-party sources reliably flowed into the system.

Quality Assurance

Conducted thorough testing to ensure the feature was robust and reliable, with a particular emphasis on security and data integrity.

Launch Preparation

Prepared detailed documentation and training materials to support a smooth rollout and user adaptation of PartnerHub.

This collaborative effort between design and engineering was key to delivering a solution that was not only technically sound but also offered a refined user experience that stood out in the insurtech market.

Results

The launch of PartnerHub marked a significant milestone for Betterview, with immediate and measurable results:

PartnerHub Data Displayed on Property Profiles

Workflow Automation

PartnerHub automated critical aspects of property risk assessment workflows, reducing manual data aggregation and analysis time for underwriters.

Informed Decision-Making

By providing comprehensive property risk profiles, the feature has empowered insurers to make more informed decisions, improving the accuracy of policy recommendations.
